Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
The Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. and the Town of Los Gatos co-host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting spectacular. The tree was planted by the History Club of Los Gatos in 1923.
Everyone's focus is on the majestic fir towering over the Town Plaza, when at that crucial moment, the Mayor flicks the switch to turn on the lights*. This wonderful Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Los Gatos Town Plaza is held every year on the first Friday evening in December. The goal of the annual ceremony is to provide a family event for "kicking off" the Holiday Season. Please bring your family to join in this festive event starting at 4:00 PM.
Enjoy popcorn, coffee and hot chocolate while watching the spectacular sight of the LED tree lighting of our town Christmas tree. We will be collecting toys for our toy drive. Look for our collection bins by the refreshment stand. Be sure to also mark your calendar to attend the Children's Christmas Holiday Parade the next day.
The refreshment booth is one of our means of raising funds to help provide projects to better enhance our community.
* In 2008 with the generous support from P.G. & E. and financial donations from the community at large, the incandescent lights were taken down and replaced with energy-efficient LED lights (see Buck-a-Bulb).
