The Gato Award (A tax deductable donation)

Purpose

To provide an opportunity for anyone in the Los Gatos area to honor a friend, relative, favorite community leader or organization while also helping the community.

Cost

The Applicant purchases a Gato award for $1,000 in the name of the person or organization they wish to honor (Recipient), naming the Recipient's favorite charity, group or fund.

The designated organization will then receive 50% of the funds ($500) with the remainder staying in the corpus of the Los Gatos Community Foundation Endowment Fund. The interest of which is given in the form of grants made to the various programs that better the community, such as youth, seniors, arts, and environmental groups. The Endowment Fund may also be designated by the Recipient.

Payment

The applicant may choose to make one lump sum payment or equal installments during the first twelve month period. Checks, Visa, Master Card, and American Express are accepted.

The Award

Upon receipt of the final payment, the Recipient will receive the following from the Los Gatos Community Foundation:

  1. A Medallion on a ribbon: the back side engraved with the Recipient's name and the Medallion's Registration number (no two Medallions will bear the same number),
  2. A lapel pin, and
  3. A framed certificate with the Recipient's name, what he/she is being recognized for, the charity donated to in the Recipient's honor, and the unique Registration Number (the same number as that engraved on the back of the Medallion).

The Applicant will receive a letter from the Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. acknowledging their tax-deductable donation.

An officer of the Foundation will be present at an Award Ceremony at the time, date, and location of the Applicant's choosing.
