Grants
The Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. offers grants each year to strengthen and enrich the quality of life within the Los Gatos Community. Priority for grants is based on a need for non-profit groups to improve facilities, services or programs that foster community development.
To this end, the Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. considers grants in seven broad categories:
- Civic/Community Investment
- Cultural Enrichment
- Education
- Environment
- Health
- Historical Heritage
- Recreation
Any organization applying for a grant must:
- Identify a specific project, capital improvement or capital expense. (Requests for general fund expenditures or operating expenses will not be granted.)
- Demonstrate the benefit of the project to the greater Los Gatos area.
- Demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability, good management practices, and the ability to produce a budget and financial statements.
- Be designated as a nonprofit, tax exempt organization as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Grant Exclusions
Regrettably, the Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. cannot grant every request. As the result of limited budget, policy, and federal regulations, we generally will not consider grants for:
- Individuals
- Organizations without 501(c)(3) public charity status
- Political or religious organizations
- On-going operating expenses
- Secondary funding (where funds are pooled to make contributions to others)
- Endowment campaigns
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, creed, or gender.
