Lyndon Bandstand

The flag-ship of the Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. (LGCF) is the Lyndon Bandstand. Atop the Lyndon Bandstand is the Lyndon Cupola which was built in 1887 by Lyndon Farwell. a Los Gatos businessman. The LGCF was organized to build a bandstand in Los Gatos. The ultimate site that was chosen is Oak Meadow Park. With the Town of Los Gatos behind the effort, and with the help of many individuals, companies, and organizations, the foundation raised in excess of $300,000. In the summer of 2003, ten years after the idea was presented to the Town Council, the bandstand was completed and dedicated to the Town of Los Gatos.

During that ten year period, the Lyndon Cupola, which originally sat atop the carriage house at the estate of Lyndon Farwell on Wood Road, was discovered in a state of disrepair at the San Jose Historical Museum, now called History San Jose. The Town of Los Gatos received a $50,000 grant from the County of Santa Clara to restore the cupola. The Town Council granted permission to the foundation to place this wonderful part of Los Gatos history on top of the Lyndon Bandstand.

The community now has a venue for many activities while preserving a bit of Los Gatos history.
